Will Glanfield 1992

A companion piece to We Free Kings, a seat which was made during the same period of residency in the autumn of 1992. Both pieces used freshly felled oak trees from Coniston Water and were milled at Hawkshead Sawmill. The artist then used basic hand and machine tools to construct the works at the Grizedale Centre Workshop. Both pieces explore themes including natural cycles, decay and regeneration.

For King’s Table, a cutting was created in the hillside next to the Ridding Wood trail and Will worked with a local dry-stone waller to make the surrounding wall.
