This American-style clapboard church/chapel is based on a church from the film Deliverance. It was built with untreated wood so that it would very quickly become dilapidated and was used as the setting for the film ‘Church of the Greys’. From the Grizedale Arts description, “a horror movie that stars the Barrow-based rock band, Zenolith, and a mixture of friends, family and pets. The first week of production was blighted by inclement weather, a broken down minibus, rolls of film jammed and ruined in the camera and a three car smash, writing off two cars and hospitalising four of the actors. Things however, soon picked up.”
The church was positioned close to the forest tracks to give walkers the feeling of stumbling upon a tumbledown building in the heart of the forest, B-Movie style.
