Celtic ring

Carved in 1984 by Gilbert Ward.

Inevitably a little faded but still very much in evidence. Fairly close by, an ‘A’ with curved arm (like a compass tracing part of a circle on a map) is also carved into the rock, an echo of this work.

“The idea of a maze pattern seemed to be appropriate, as one invariably gets lost in the forest….. it also reads as a mandala, so that several correlated ideas exist at the same time….”
