This website is not officially related to Grizedale in any way. It is a personal website, set up to catalogue and provide information on the sculptures in the forest. I would like it to become a resource but it is starting as something much looser than that, put together because I would like to create a record of the sculptures and artworks in Grizedale Forest from their start to the present day.
The information available about each work seems to be at times difficult to access and incomplete and attempting to find locations and even images of works is not always easy. I would love this website to become a resource that showed as much as possible about each artist and their work in Grizedale. If anyone out there has anything – photos, maps, etc… that would help with this, I would be very interested in adding it to this site (with appropriate credits) to make a more complete record. I like the idea of showing the works as they were being made as well as when they were completed, and providing a record of their time in the forest beyond installation. Grizedale is a living, working forest but a number of the earlier works in particular have survived well over the years and many that are no longer still in situ are also remembered by visitors – and with luck, new works will arrive that will continue the story.
